Method and Practice

With an emphasis on movement and physical theatre structures, I follow an ‘explore, create, rehearse’ structure when facilitating a devising process with youth and young adults. As a facilitator, I work to empower actors to own the process and collaboratively determine structure and content while also providing feedback and direction to elevate the work and refine their performance skills. I also strive to incorporate skills actors bring to the table (musical instruments, dance, creative writing and poetry, etc.) in both process and product.

I am particularly interested in site-specific work.

My dissertation research and subsequent writings focused on devising as a qualitative research method.

When directing a scripted show, I seek out scripts that provide opportunities for collaborative creation, movement work, and problem solving through devising structures and processes.
